This painting is on canvas 36x36". I drew the design from shapes I observed in nature and re-arranged to suit myself with soft vine charcoal. Then went over the lines with a diluted ultramarine blue acrylic paint. At this point I don't know where the painting will go or what direction the format will end up.

I determine that I will use a dominance of yellow, green, blue, blue and red violet, and violet (analogous colors with a complement or near complement). Of course, with the way I work I could change my mind :>).

I decided I didn't like the design ....it seemed too static....so I turned it around and looked at it from all sides.....turned it upside down and used a large brush and gesso to add some rhythmic, slightly off center shapes......now I like it better, I think......man that gesso is white though. I thought about it more for a few days.

I've started adding a lot more paint now and it's starting to shape up....it looks like spring flowers. I still have work to do in lots of areas.....the paint surface quality needs work.
