I've been working with a lot of multiple canvas works lately. I decided on using three 24 x 24" canvases I had available for this painting/paintings. I also didn't want to work so much in my usual way of toning a canvas and drawing off divisions on the canvas, so I just started out with a bamboo stick and a one inch brush and a mixture of thalo blue and green and just spontaneously started putting marks on all three canvases. I also used a new color Golden is making now called Naples Yellow Hue and Alizarin Crimson Hue. These colors are their new historical colors that are really great....they look like the old pigments but are more lightfast and non-toxic.

They'll all set upon my wall easel.....copied this easel from friend and it works great for anything up to 8 ft wide.

Here's the progress being made with the triptych canvases. The other paint colors are my usual palette of alizarin,  cad. red medium, cad. yellow light, permanent green light, cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, dioxizine purple, and white. For this one, I'll also use neutral gray #7 and unbleached titanium for convenience in making a lot of high key grays with touches of the other colors.

This is what I think will be the final pieces. I may, upon more viewing, decide to add more paint if I determine the work needs if for surface quality.

It's been such gorgeous weather lately that I think I'll call them Fresh Air Day, November.

This is the way they all hang together. The lighting in the studio makes the color look different than it did outside when I took the preceding close-ups of the separate canvases.

This is the final image of the entire triptych.
