Between August - December 2008 I moved my studio and home to a ranch/farm near New London, TX.

Not such a good introduction to my studio but it's hard to take a picture on stairs.

The door with the iron work goes to the living area and the other to the kitchen. Notice chairs to look out over the area to the east. We have chairs on every porch here.

Here's the kitchen from the kitchen door...note the sloping low roof line.

I'd planned to use that cart with the stainless steel top in my new kitchen but it was too large. So the studio got a new piece of furniture.

The second picture is how I changed things to set up that whole wall for encaustic painting. The table is still under there with a door on top for a 'table' to work on. The fan is to vent fumes out that window when turned around.

At the left of the entrance my husband helped me build these flat storage shelves.

They were disassembled from my old studio and made to fit this space although a little smaller here.

From the kitchen, you go into my main painting room. There's the same old wall easel cut down a little for this space. Light's pretty good in the daytime with the shades up. That door goes out to the back porch.

Yep...that's a bathroom toilet...with an old shower, closet, and lavatory. Good to have but not a pretty sight in person.

Here's looking down to the south pasture and lake from the back porch door.

Another view of the painting room, from the living area adjacent. There is also a closet to the right of the rug.

Looking back into the room from the back door...you see the closet, and a small black cabinet I put a lot of encaustic supplies in. The encaustic palettes and other stuff is in the large table cabinet drawer.

This old cabinet hold a LOT.

Here's the living area from the painting room. Lots of space for a hide-a-bed, built in bookshelves..even a TV and stereo.

Should put those pillows and quilt up I suppose.

On the opposite was of the living area, I put the old 7 ft. wardrobe with lots of storage for supplies. It doesn't look too pretty right now with all the boxes of new canvas and the storage of larger paintings.  Hum..even a yoga mat, step, and my collage chicken wire on top.

Gotta clean this place up some day!

Just another view of the living area....from behind the closet.

Mentioning the closet...this shows part of it...more shelves installed on each side of a standard closet.

Oh yeah....nice bookcase I put all my paints in between living area and paint room. Really handy here so I can see what I have instead of rummaging in one of those deep drawers. Lots of it seems to be out on the table right now as I didn't clean up for these pictures.

To the right of what would be the front living room door (if I came in that way)...there is a little space I'll probably convert into more shelving of various heights for whatever I need to store in the future.

Looks like my exercise ball needs a little air...

Going back out the studio, there are garages below...can't see the house from here as the living area juts out too far.

I love it here ............right now it's kinda messy and things are not in the place they will be eventually. But messy aside and all the old sloping floors and ceilings, the worn linoleum and the paint on the walls needing touch-ups, it's a wonderful place to come and get away from everything else..................but be close enough at hand when you need to be. AND the views are so inspiring to me. These pictures are taken in the dead of winter so they don't do justice to what i can see from almost any window.
