  • Jonathan Talbot dry collage method......this is a method of attaching/collaging papers to a substrate. You coat each side of the paper you plan to use with acrylic gloss medium, let it dry on a surface that it won't stick to easily (chicken wire is what Jonathan used in a workshop I went to).......when that side is dry, you coat the other side with the medium and allow it to dry. I save all the extra pieces of leftover papers in between sheets of copy paper so they won't stick together in the humidity here in northeastern Texas. You must also coat the paper or surface you will collage to with the gloss medium and allow it to dry.

Then when you find the arrangement of the elements you want to collage, then you can lay a sheet of silicone release paper over and iron them down with a photographer's tack iron. This fuses the pieces all together so they won't shift and lose your design while you are gluing them. NOTE: you must put the silicone release paper between the iron and the medium coated papers or they will stick to the iron.
