Merrill Mack's Studio

This is a view of my art space, facing North.
My deck, 6 ft x 15 ft, which I have turned into a small workspace and place to keep my
supplies, although small, is a luxury . Luckily for me, a printmaker, as well as a
painter, I am able to do my printing at the Art Campus of City College, San Francisco. The
school has a wonderful big facility with 6 presses. I thought I had pictures at hand
but will have to add later.
This small space in my home allows me to make a mess and leave things out. I was
always uncomfortable painting inside as I was sure something would spill on the new
carpeting. I also felt the need to clean up all
the time which stopped me from starting any projects.
The plexi wall has sliding doors which let in the air and light but keeps the elements
out. |

This is the work space, facing South. Through
the glass sliding door to part of my living room and out the South facing window. (Sorry, I only have a black and white of this shot of the studio.) |

This is the view from my workspace facing East.
You are looking at Corte Madera Creek which is actually
quite a bit wider then it looks in this picture. The Creek feeds into the San
Francisco Bay.
There are several rowing clubs that use this waterway and I get to watch the healthy, tan,
muscular people doing their thing for many hours of the day. It is also a wonderful
place for watching the constant
changing of the seasons as the different water birdlife comes in and out of the Pacific
Flyway.
I have lived here for many years and have never painted this view.
